Sandhill cranes can be found all across North America and parts of northern Siberia. I see them every summer hanging out in the flats around the Kenai River or flying overhead as they migrate, but rarely up close. As I was dragging my feet to finish the pattern for this design I pulled out of my driveway one morning to find two cranes walking in the street in front of my house. At first I didn’t know what they were, viewing these 4 foot tall giants in my rearview mirror, then realized they were a crane couple on a stroll. I got the message and finished the pattern that week.
Sandhill Cranes uses my Summer Zen Signature Batik Collection with Hoffman California Fabrics. The pattern includes instructions for cutting and assembling the appliques as well as piecing the background, borders and binding.
